December 2019 will mark the 10 year anniversary of the publication of "Networking Named Content" at CoNext 2009, a seminal paper that pointed to the direction of Information-Centric Networking.  The last 10 years have witnessed an extensive research and development efforts around the general ICN area, in the design and development of ICN architectures, related protocols, and prototype applications. The objective of the panel is to engage the panelists as well as the audience in developing both a retrospective, as well as a prospective (say in next 5 to 10 years), view of ICN, ranging from research, industrial, and social perspectives.

More specifically, the panel discussion plans to focus on the following questions and topics:

  • What are the success stories in research, development, and/or deployment?
  • What lessons have been learned from the last 10 years of research and development efforts?
  • What are some of the roadblocks that ICN efforts have encountered?
  • What are the remaining challenges in moving ICN forward towards deployment in local and global environments?
  • What areas should the ICN research and development efforts focus on within the next 5 years?  10 years?
